It's a very well done bullet hell, shoot em up game. Easy to pick up, hard to master. There is a vaunt mechanic that provides a temporary relief, and different ships with different abilities so there is a degree of strategy as well while playing. It also has a local multiplayer and can use either the mouse or keyboard so you can easily get 4 people playing on the same computer. It is challenging and really fun to play with friends so it's definitely worth it. The DLC adds new ships, but my fav is one that comes standard. I haven't tried the hardest difficuly, but I hear that it ramps up the difficulty considerably, so there will always be something to draw your attention.
TL;DR : Good stuff, gets very challenging, and fun to play local multiplayer!
